About Marjorie
Marjorie Janove is one of Portland, Oregon’s premier piano instructors, drawing on more than 30 years of teaching experience, a doctorate in Piano from Indiana University and a multifaceted professional performance career.
Teaching
Since 1980, Ms. Janove has successfully taught children, adolescents and adults, from beginner though advanced levels, helping them to reach their musical goals in the domains of technical proficiency as well as musical expression. In addition to her private studio, Ms Janove has taught piano at the university level, including Westminster College and University of Utah (Graduate Piano Literature, Solfege, Musicianship).

Performance
Marjorie Janove has enjoyed a performing career for over 30 years as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Over a 20-year span in Salt Lake City, she soloed with the Utah Symphony as pianist and harpsichordist. She accompanied violinist and conductor, Joseph Silverstein, on several concert series including the Cathedral of the Madeline Festival of the Arts and Humanities, Westminster College, and Logan recital Series.
She soloed as harpsichordist for the Utah Council for Citizens Diplomacy Vivaldi Candlelight Series. She collaborated with Utah Symphony associate concertmaster Gerald Elias on the Utah Performing Arts Tour and benefit concerts for the Seeds of Peace Organization.
Her performance of Bach’s Art of the Fugue for the Bach Tricentennial was recorded for broadcast on National Public Radio. She received the YWCA Outstanding Achievement Award in Arts & Communications and was featured guest artist for the 1992 Utah Music Teacher Association.
Since moving to Portland, Ms. Janove has played on the University of Oregon Concert Series, 2009 Piano in the Park series at Pioneer Square, and 2009 First Thursday series at Sherman Clay. She has also played benefit recitals for the Oregon Food Bank, the Portland State University Judaic Studies Program and Our House.
